Kathmandu: Nepal’s new Chief Justice, Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana will assume his post on Wednesday. Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari would be administering the oath at Shital Niwas.
Rana was confirmed as the new Chief Justice unanimously by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) earlier in the day.
The Constitutional Council’s meeting held on December 13 last year had recommended Rana to succeed outgoing Chief Justice of Nepal Om Prakash Mishra whose tenure ended today on age grounds.
With the swearing-in ceremony taking place on Wednesday, Rana will be the 28th Chief Justice of the Himalayan nation, serving a term of three years.
