Hyderabad: The Abids Road police arrested a man on Friday who used drug his victims and flee with their valuables. Police seized three chocolates mixed with tablets of prescription drug, Lorazepam-1mg, from his possession.
Police said accused Mohammed Akram, 47, a native of Maharashtra, used to approach people seeking a medical test certificate before going to Gulf. He would accost them at medical shops and sweet talk them into consuming chocolate laced with Lorazepam, and them decamp with their valuables.
The arrest was done following a complaint from his latest victim, Ulvaji Suresh, 25, from whom Akram robbed Rs 15,000 cash, a Smartphone, gold chain and original passport on July 26.
Suresh said Akram approached him and he offered to buy him coconut water near a Metro station. “He then slipped in a drug-laced chocolate piece in the glass, and fled with cash, mobile, gold chain and an original passport,” Abids Road police inspector K Ravi Kumar said.
Investigations revealed that Akram was involved in three similar cases in Narayanaguda, Saifabad and Mirchowk police stations. He was booked under relevant Sections and sent in judicial remand.
