Abu Dhabi officially recognizes 18 non-Muslim places of worship, including decades-old churches and a temple on Sunday by giving legal recognition.
According to Khaleej Times , the non-Muslim religious congregations were granted licenses in a historic ceremony held at Emirates Palace organized by the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi (DCD).

Abu Dhabi is now a leading model for tolerance and co-existence.” “The UAE is keen on embracing unity and promoting the inclusion of everyone who had contributed to the development of the country. With this new initiative, the places of worship will now be working and operating under one umbrella.” The licensing reflects the UAE’s leadership for diversity and values of different communities, Al Khaili said.
