Golconda fort likely to lose “World Heritage” tag

Hyderabad: According to a statement made by officer of Archaeological Survey of India, Dr. Milan Chawla, the historic monument, Golconda Fort is likely to lose “World Heritage” tag.
He stated that the claims of renovation of Golconda Fort have remained unfulfilled due to the negligence and carelessness of the officials. The lofty claims to dislodge illegal possessions have also been unsuccessful.
Mr. Chawla recalled that when he took charge of the repair works of Golconda Fort. He had suggested that there should be a separate exit for the visitors but it was not implemented.
At present, entrance and exit is the same which nearly 4 lakh visitors use every day.
He clarified that in order to retain the tag of “World Heritage” certain guidelines have to be followed but with the present arrangements, it does not seen to be practical.
It such a case, Golconda Fort might lose the tag of “World Heritage”.
