Hyderabad: BC Welfare Association national president R. Krishnaiah has filed a house motion petition in the High Court pleading to release orders stopping the release of Panchayat election notification.
The petition was filed by Krishnaiah ahead of its scheduled release on January 3. In his petition, he complained to the HC that the State government had reduced the BC reservations from 34 percent to 23 percent for Panchayat elections by issuing an ordinance. He said the decision of the State government would be grave injustice to the BCs and urged the HC to quash the ordinance. Noting that different BC organisations in the State were demanding that the State government provide 50 percent reservations, Krishnaiah expressed his surprise at the decision of the State government on the issue.
