LS polls: SP-BSP-RLD tie-up ready to take on BJP

LUCKNOW: RLD vice president and Ajit Singh’s son Jayant Chaudhary said on Sunday that SP-BSP-RLD alliance in Uttar Pradesh had no accommodation problems and is ready to take on the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on last Tuesday formally announced their alliance for the Lok Sabha election, with the RLD getting three seats to contest in western Uttar Pradesh.
In an interview to a leading news agency, Jayant said the election will be a ‘make or break’ for idea of inclusive India.
“Chaudhary Sahab (Ajit Singh) was deeply pained by the breakdown in social relations in the region after the trauma of riots. Kairana by-election was a defining moment in which people rejected the hate campaigns and forced parties to pay attention to real issues,” Jayant Chaudhary said. The RLD chief has announced his intention to fight from Muzaffarnagar to further take forward the message of brotherhood and “kisan mazdoor ekta” to its logical progression, he said.
The SP, which has already sewed up an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) , has left Mathura, Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar for the RLD, headed by former Union Minister Ajit Singh. The RLD’s primary support base is known to exist in the Jat community .
Jayant told the media at the SP headquarters here that his party will ensure that voters rally behind the SP-BSP-RLD alliance across the state.
