NEW DELHI: A group of people from the minority community was allegedly assaulted by goons from little-known right-wing organisation forcing them to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ slogans.
According to reports published in the leading news agency, the incident took place in Assam’s Barpeta town and came to light after a video of the purported attack went viral on social media platforms.
According to the police, the complaints stated that the goons stopped the autorickshaw in which they were travelling and thrashed them. The accused, hurling abuses, then forced the victims to chant slogans like ‘Jai Shree Ram’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’.
The attackers themselves shot and uploaded video of the attack on social media.
Police on Thursday filed two FIRs were against the right wing organisation and its founder by the All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) and the North-East Minorities Students’ Union (NEMSU).
