Bhopal: We all know the story of ‘Toilet- ek prem katha’ but very few know it is a real-life story and now influenced with this, a woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district refused to go to her in-laws house after she learnt they do not have loo in their home.
The 25-year-old Jyoti has set an example for the people of her village Phoop around five months ago when she refused to return to her husband’s house unless they construct a washroom.
The woman has been resolute in her decision ever since then. She returned to her mother’s house after staying at her in-laws for 3 days.
Now the brave woman says she would rather prefer divorce over defecating in open.
Jyoti’s house has a washroom but many people from the same village still defecate in the open but Jyoti, however, refuses to do this.
“I cannot walk down to railway tracks for open defecation,” she said. Recalling her experience at her in-laws’ house, Jyoti  said , “Either I go out for defecation early in the morning or night under the cover of darkness. I am scared. “
