RANCHI: Tabrez Ansari lynching by self-styled vigilantes is the 18th incident in the past three years in Jharkhand .
Dozens of innocents lives have been lost because of the unabated spate of mob violence triggered by a variety of factors ranging from suspicion of carrying beef, cow slaughter, cattle theft or child-lifting rumours.
LATEHAR LYNCHING 2016 The first mob lynching in Jharkhand refers to the case of lynching of two Muslim cattle traders in Latehar district.
On 18 March 2016, 12-years-old Imteyaz Khan and 32-years-old Mazlum Ansari were brutally assaulted and then hanged from a tree by a mob of self-appointed gau rakshaks in Khaprelwar village of Latehar district.
Eight people were convicted and awarded life imprisonment by the sessions court in December 19, 2018. Each of them was also slapped with a fine of Rs 25,000.
