Washington, Dec 3 : Private companies in the US added 307,000 jobs in November, indicating a slowing recovery in a labour market ravaged by the ongoing coronavirus crisis, according to the latest data.
The figure published by the Automatic Data Processing (ADP) company on Wednesday, which was well below the forecast of 475,000 by economists surveyed by Dow Jones, marked the slowest private payroll growth since July, reports Xinhua news agency.
In October, the private sector added an upwardly revised 404,000 jobs.
The employment growth was mainly in the service providing sectors, which added 276,000 jobs in the month, according to the report, produced by the ADP Research Institute in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics.
Large firms added 58,000 workers, medium companies added 139,000, and small businesses added 110,000 employees, the report showed.
“While November saw employment gains, the pace continues to slow,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute.
