Waris Pathan loses Byculla seat to Shiv Sena candidate

MUMBAI: Advocate Waris Yusuf Pathan, sitting MLA and AIMIM candidate has lost the state election in Byculla assembly seat by more than 20,000 votes.
Byculla, which is the 184th constituency in 288 constituencies in Maharashtra is a Muslim majority city.  Pathan, who won this seat in the 2014 elections with 25,314 votes against BJP’s Madhu (Dada) Chavan has now be defeated by Shiv Sena candidate Yamini Yashwant by 51,114 votes.
Pathan finished second with a vote share of 23.17 per cent.
Actor and ‘Bigg Boss 7’ fame Ajaz Khann, who is contesting as an independent candidate from Byculla after being denied a ticket by AIMIM couldn’t manage to woo the voters and has got just only 1596 votes.
