Hyderabad: Gold weighing 652.95 grams, valued around Rs 24,61,621 was seized from a passenger nabbed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport by the Directorate Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials.
“Based on the specific intelligence, on October 14, DRI nabbed a passenger and on examination, it was found that the passenger was wearing customized jeans pant in which gold in paste form was hidden and stitched in the waistband and bottom area,” read the DRIs statement, TOI reports .
According to sources, the accused is a native of Lucknow and was entrusted the job of carrying the said gold paste at the request of his friend.
He was supposed to deliver the gold to an associate of his friend outside the RGI Airport.
Further investigation is underway.
